Upon hearing I'd need to cut out gluten this year, I didn't fret (too much) because Aran's first cookbook ensured I wasn't missing out on anything. My mind is blown away by all the delicious recipes in this book! Within the first day of owning this book, I've already baked the sourdough boule and sweet potoato cake, and both are delicious! • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mistertiki! -- A course in itself in gluten free baking... : I liked the 1st chapter which plainly and directly sets out the flours to use for baking. No guess work and common dietary restrictions are considered and substitutes offered. Now, the book was released today so I haven't cooked from it yet. I'm usually picky about more natural flours, sourdough and so on...bad training:) I got this book mostly because my mother cannot have gluten and she longs for bread and cookies and so on...but the pastries look so good , you couldnt tell they're gluten free, i think I'll be eating them also, I think this book could persuade me to leave store bought breads...wonderful book so far! I love cooking and baking, but am not much of a cookbook person, mainly because I feel you can find a handful of recipes in a book you may like and that's it. I found Aran's first cookbook and bought it solely for the gluten free sourdough boules. Little did I know it would become like a kitchen bible for me. I cook and bake regularly- this book is amazing. Very detailed instructions teaching you how to start a gluten free sourdough starter from scratch. As well as many ideas on how to use it- from crusty boules which I have pictured above, English muffins, herby sourdough crackers, chocolate sourdough cake, flatbreads. I have made them for my picky kiddos and even they approve! You could easily serve up these recipes to gluten eaters alike and they would never notice. The images and pages of this book are simply stunning. It is obvious that every detail was considered within the photos and pages of this book. It is easy to read and follow and every recipe is sure to impress your guests. Definitely a book you'll want to not only use time and time again but to display on your coffee table or bookshelf. I cannot say enough good things about it. Ive been gluten free for years now and this is the first book that I have found that offers recipes that remind me of growing up in Germany and going to all the local bakeries. Me parecía difícil que se pudiera superar, pero lo ha hecho con creces. Es un libro super completo donde se recoge la mayoría de las recetas básicas y deliciosas de horneado. Horneados que cuando se descubre que no puedes comer con gluten, aprendes a renunciar a ellos para siempre. Mis hijos han vuelto a soñar y disfrutar de todo esto gracias a este libro. The book has all the gluten free baking recipes you can dream of and the instructions are super clear. This babka was good, and not just gluten free good, like real good. The dough was stretchy and squishy and sweet and the orange zest and chocolate gave it the perfect flavour. I am not a baker normally, but I can’t wait to work my way through the rest of this book. Also, side note, and the thing I always forget with baking… read the full recipe before you start, I started making this at 7:30pm, and finished somewhere around 4:30am… not difficult to make, but a lot of proofing time required between steps. Now this book, and for that matter, anything by Aran Goyoaga has become my go-to for anything GF and delicious! This lady has done her research and created recipes that actually work. Her sourdough boules are a little close to a miracle - how could they be gluten-free AND delicious? But it is not only bread, you will find easy-to-do recipes for cookies and cakes and much much more.
